Objectives
- To set a campaign for appropriate method of electronics waste disposal
- To gradually improve the environmental quality by reducing pollutant in the soil and water sources resulted from toxic substances released from incorrectly disposed electronic wastes
Current problem
- People discard electronic wastes along with household garbage.
- Chemicals from electronic wastes pollute surrounding soil and water sources harming all forms of living things.
Action Plan
- Have electronics waste collector at Community Center, schools, temples, shopping malls, etc.
- Set an incentive for those who cooperate using the method introduced (electronics waste placed in a clear plastic bag with name and address for incentive to be sent to).
- Electronic wastes collected and sent to Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok
- Invite other Rotary clubs and local communities to join with this project for massive environmental improvement in each community.
Expected Outcome
- People are aware of danger from incorrectly disposed electronic waste and willing to set up their own community electronic wastes collector in the near future.
- Decreased amount of toxic substances from electronic wastes in the soil and water source
- Decreased number of people affected from toxic substances released from electronic wastes in the soil and water
- People have better quality of living in a gradually improved environment.
- Cooperation among Rotary Clubs and local communities in creating public awareness of possible harm reduction.
